IPL 2022: MI vs RR, Match 09: Pitch Report, Probable XI and Match Prediction

Rohit Sharma, Sanju Samson

Five times champions Mumbai Indians (MI) will take on the 2008 winners Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Match 9 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). This tie will take place at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday, April 2.

In their tournament opener against Delhi Capitals (DC), MI were good with the bat – the openers fired, the middle-order too chipped in. But, the bowlers could not capitalise on the start they got in the first ten overs. The duo of Lalit Yadav and Axar Patel smashed MI pacers to all parts of the ground, adding an unbeaten 75-run stand off just 30 balls. MI eventually lost the match by five wickets.

On the other hand, RR registered a thumping win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their first match. The Sanju Samson-led side posted 210/6 on the board and then defended the total by restricting Kane Williamson & Co. on 149 for 7.
