IPL 2022: Morne Morkel picks one batter who can ‘Destroy’ all plans of the opposing captain

Morne Morkel names one batter who can demolish plans of other teams

Former South Africa speedster Morne Morkel has named one player in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 who has the potential to destroy all the plans of the opposing captain. Notably, the Proteas star is currently associated with the Star Sports network as a commentator for the fifteenth season of the cash-rich league.

During a conversation at the ‘Cricket Live’ show on Star Sports, Morkel picked Rajasthan Royals (RR) explosive opener Jos Buttler as one such batter who can demolish any team’s strategies with his destructive batting.

Morkel spoke about Buttler’s breathtaking century against Mumbai Indians (MI), stating it was an exceptional knock by the English superstar. Morkel reckoned Buttler took his time initially to get settled, and then it was almost impossible to stop him.

“Jos the Boss… Sometimes the bowling unit needs to say it’s his day and enjoy the show. But you need to find a way (to dismiss a batsman like him) early. In his century knock against Mumbai, he played exceptionally. He played all the shots and all around the ground. He took his time initially to get used to the pace and bounce, but after that, he hit down the ground and square of the wickets. You just can’t stop him,” said Morkel.

Morkel mentioned that Buttler is a high-quality player, and that’s one of the biggest reasons why franchises are always keen to invest millions of dollars in him. The 37-year-old felt Buttler can take the game away and bulldoze all the plans of opposing captains.

“It’s just the quality of a player. That’s why teams pay big dollars for players like Buttler to put pressure on the bowling attack. He’s a guy that if you don’t get him early, he will take the game away completely and destroys all the plans the opposing captain makes,” added Morkel.
