IPL 2022: Gautam Gambhir pens heartfelt note after LSG lose Eliminator against RCB

Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) campaign in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 came to an end following the 14-run defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Eliminator at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday (May 25).

Chasing the daunting target of 208, the KL Rahul-led Lucknow only managed to reach 193/6 and fell short of 14 runs to go further in the fifteenth season of the cash-rich league. Following LSG’s exit from IPL 2022, their mentor Gautam Gambhir took to his official Instagram handle and shared a heartfelt post.

Gambhir, who has led the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to the IPL title twice, said they had a great tournament and will come back stronger in the next season.

“Hard luck today but a great tournament for our news team. We’ll come back stronger… Until we meet again!” Gambhir wrote in an Instagram post that had a picture of him watching an LSG net session.

Right after the loss, LSG skipper Rahul had mentioned that their fielding unit and RCB’s Rajat Patidar were the main reason behind the defeat. Notably, the Super Giants were sloppy on the field, including the skipper himself, who had dropped the catch of Dinesh Karthik. Patidar was also dropped twice before he went on to smash a triple-figure score.

“I think it’s quite obvious – the reasons why we didn’t win. We let ourselves down in the field. Dropping easy catches never helps. Difference was obviously Patidar playing such a knock. When someone in the top three scores a hundred, more often, the team wins. They fielded really well, and we were poor,” Rahul had said during the post-match presentation.
