Top 10 fastest deliveries in IPL 2022

Umran Malik

The ongoing 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has reached its concluding stage, with only one game, i.e. final, left to be played between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

Close to 2000 fours and over 1050 sixes, the batters have completely dominated the proceedings till now. However, the pacers are also not too far behind and have not left any opportunity to trouble the batters with sheer pace and hostility.

Out of 899 wickets in the fifteenth season of the cash-rich league, speedsters have picked up 574 scalps. The pace bowlers have stamped their authority this year, with quite a few testing out the speed gun consistently with their rapid deliveries.

The likes of Umran Malik, Lockie Ferguson, and Dushmantha Chameera have impressed one and all and proved that there is nothing quite like raw pace, even in the shortest format. In fact, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) pacer Malik and Titans’ paceman Ferguson, in particular, have set the speed gun on fire, having crossed the 150 kmph barrier quite regularly in the tournament.

Malik, however, owns the top spot in IPL 2022 after he clocked a jaw-dropping 157 kmph delivery during Match 50 against Delhi Capitals (DC) on May 05. Even on the wickets tally, the right-armer has dominated the charts. He finished the IPL 2022 with 22 scalps to his name in 14 games, sitting at the fourth spot among the leading wicket-takers.

On that note, let’s have a look at the top 10 fastest deliveries bowled in IPL 2022:

  1. Umran Malik (SRH) – 157 kmph
  2. Umran Malik (SRH) – 154.8 kmph
  3. Umran Malik (SRH) – 154 kmph
  4. Umran Malik (SRH) – 154 kmph
  5. Lockie Ferguson (GT) – 153.9 kmph
  6. Umran Malik (SRH) – 153.3 kmph
  7. Umran Malik (SRH) – 153.1 kmph
