ENG vs NZ: Reason why spectators attending Lord’s Test received full refund of Day 4 tickets

Crowd got Day 4 tickets refund at Lords Cricket Ground

The Lords Cricket Ground witnessed a high-voltage clash between England and New Zealand, where the hosts won the contest on Day 4 of the first Test by five wickets. This was England’s first win after a string of losses, and they get 1-0 up in the three-match series.

Meanwhile, the fans, who came to cheer England at Lords, were welcomed by a double dose of happiness. Firstly, they saw the Ben Stokes-led new English side defeating the Black Caps to record a big win and secondly, the viewers at the stadium got a refund for their tickets for the fourth day.

Despite the contest continuing into the first hour, the fans and supporters got their refund of the ticket price. This happened due to Lord’s Cricket Ground regulations, which state that if 15 overs or less are bowled on a day due to either weather conditions or the completion of the game, the crowd will get a full refund.

Here’s the information regarding the refund policy for ticket holders for the first test match between England and New Zealand:

7.2 A refund scheme applies to the first four days of the First Test Match and Second Test Match, if:

  • 7.2.1 play is restricted or does not take place on the Match Day for which the Ticket is valid, an automatic refund will be made to the original credit or debit card used to make the purchase of the Ticket(s), subject to there being:
  • (i) 15 overs or less because of weather conditions or completion of the Match – a full refund; or
  • (ii) 15.1 overs to 29.5 overs because of weather conditions or completion of the Match – a 50% refund

Notably, the match ended within 15 overs, 13.5 overs to be precise, and as per the refund policy of Lord’s, every attendee received the ticket money back.
