Pakistan crushed West Indies in the second ODI of the ongoing three-match series at Multan Cricket Stadium to take an unassailable 2-0 lead on Friday.
Batting first, the hosts kept losing wickets at regular intervals and could only manage to post 275/8 in their allotted 50 overs. Opener Imam-ul-Haq and captain Babar Azam did shine with the bat to propel Pakistan to a competitive total.
Imam scored 72 runs with the help of six boundaries before meeting an unfortunate run-out that cut short his stay in the middle. Similarly, Babar was outdone by Akeal Hosein on a well-made 77 but with a relatively questionable strike rate of 82.80.
Hosein went on to claim a three-wicket haul for 52 runs in his quota of 10 overs. Likewise, Alzarri Joseph (2/33) and Anderson Phillip (2/50) picked up two wickets each to give the Windies’ batters a perfect platform to level the series.
However, the visitors crumbled in their chase and were bundled out for a mere 155 in 32.2 overs, losing the contest by 120 runs. Mohammad Nawaz was a chief destructor, taking four wickets while conceding only 19 runs at a jaw-dropping economy rate of 1.90 in his quota of 10 overs.
Nawaz destroyed the West Indies batting line-up, picking crucial wickets of Shamarh Brooks (42), Brandon King (0), Nicholas Pooran (25) and Rovman Powell (10). Apart from the left-arm spinner, Mohammad Wasim Jr also chipped in with three scalps for 34 runs in 4.2 overs.

Babar Azam is perhaps second pakistani cricketer after Shahid Afridi for whom the crowd anxiously waits to come and bat and silence runs in the stadium when they departed back to pavilion. Such stardom and crowd pulling art is bestowed to very few cricketers in the world. #PAKvWI
