The Sunday night was a memorable one for Team India as they chased down the massive target of 312 in the second ODI against West Indies to register a memorable victory in Port of Spain. With the sensational win, the tourists sealed the ODI series and took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match leg.
Though the ‘Men in Blue’ were in a spot of bother after losing three wickets for 79, but half-centuries from Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson and Axar Patel helped Team India gun down the target.
While the 99-run stand between Iyer (63) and Samson (54) provided stability, finishing touches from Deepak Hooda (33) and Axar (64*) took the visitors home.
After the big win, skipper Shikhar Dhawan led the celebrations in the Indian dressing room. He shared a video on his official Twitter handle where Indian players can be seen erupting in joy and enjoying the series triumph.

“Boys didn’t lose the self-belief”: Dhawan after impressive win
Before bursting into celebrations, Dhawan heaped praises on his troops for the stupendous performance. The Delhi-born termed the partnership between Iyer and Samson as a game-changer and credited the Indian Premier League (IPL) for helping players perform on a big stage.
“It was a great team performance. Boys didn’t lose the self-belief, that is amazing. Iyer, Sanju, Axar, everyone was amazing, Even Avesh came out in his debut game and scored those 11 important runs. Thanks to IPL, they perform on a huge stage,” said Dhawan at the post-match presentation.
“I felt that we bowled nicely. They got off to a good start. Hope and Pooran batted well. We thought if they could do it, we knew that we could do it. We started a little slow. Shubman batted well. The Iyer-Samson partnership made a huge difference. There was a run-out. But these things happen. Boys are learning. Thanks to the support staff as well. They have been doing a tremendous job,” he added.
