ZIM vs IND: Twitter erupts as Shubman Gill hits his maiden ODI century

Shubman Gill smashes maiden ODI ton

Indian batting sensation Shubman Gill continued his golden touch with the bat in the third and final ODI of the ongoing three-match series against Zimbabwe, hitting his maiden century in the 50-over format.

Gill reached the milestone in the 44th over of India’s innings when he took a single on the very first ball bowled by Victor Nyauchi. After taking the single, the right-handed batter removed the helmet and had a big smile on his face as he bowed to celebrate. The whole Indian camp applauded and appreciated the masterful knock by Gill.

Gill, who came to bat in the 15th over upon his skipper KL Rahul’s dismissal, stayed unbeaten until the final over when he was removed by Brad Evans for a well-made 130 off 97 deliveries, with the help of 16 boundaries, including a six.

Gill formed a dominating 140-run partnership for the third wicket with Ishan Kishan, who also shined with the willow smashing 50 off 61 balls. Riding on Gill’s magnificent batting, Team India managed to post 298/8 in their allotted 50 overs.

Evans, who dismissed Gill, was the pick of the bowler for Zimbabwe, taking a five-wicket haul while conceding 54 runs in his quota of 10 overs.
