Team India may be missing the much-awaited ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 final as they were knocked out in the semis, but there will be no shortage of India flavour in the summit clash. Janaki Easwar, an Indian-origin Australian singer, performed at the Melbourne Cricket Ground ahead of the England versus Pakistan final.
Easwar gave her performance alongside the Australian rock group Icehouse during the second song of the evening, ‘We Can Get Together,’ which also featured Zimbabwean-born Thando Sikwila.

The 13-year-old Easwar, who rose to fame after her stint in ‘The Voice Australia’, is the daughter of Anoop Divakaran and Divya Raveendran, who come from Kozhikode in Kerala and have been staying down under for the past 15 years.
Ahead of her performance in front of a packed MCG, Easwar expressed her excitement and said her show is proof of multicultural Australia. The singer, who has also appeared at other events such as the Indian Film Festival in Melbourne and Indian fashion week Australia, mentioned it would be nice if India were in the final of the multi-team tournament.
“Performing in front of a massive MCG crowd and getting broadcast to millions of people globally will be an unbelievable experience. My parents are ardent cricket fans. It is through them that I got to know the magnitude of this opportunity. I heard that the tickets are already sold out. I am looking forward to performing and also the game. It would have been nicer if India played the final, though,” Easwar told the Indian Express.
Coming back to the summit clash, Pakistan booked their place after defeating New Zealand in the first semi-final. Similarly, England played the second semi-final against India, where Jos Buttler and Alex Hales dominated the proceedings, helping the English side register a brilliant 10-wicket win over the Men in Blue.
