Watch: PCB chief Ramiz Raja fumes at a journalist for quoting Babar Azam over Rawalpindi pitch controversy

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has once again come under criticism regarding the batting friendly Rawalpindi pitch where the first Test between Pakistan and England is getting underway currently.

After England posted a mammoth 657 runs with a record 506 runs on Day 1, packed with four centuries, Pakistan had three centurions of their own. Notably, this wasn’t the first time the pitches in Pakistan has become the talking point, earlier, the tracks in Karachi and Rawalpindi too received criticism during the series against Australia.

Regarding the pitch at Rawalpindi, PCB chief Ramiz Raja was asked about his take and the criticism surrounding over it. However, Raja seemed to get angry as he snapped at the journalist who quoted Pakistan skipper Babar Azam in one of his questions.

One of the journalists asked the PCB chief, “In such cases, what type of pitches we have had because Babar had said that we have a golden chance here.”

But Raja fumed at the reporter and said: “Phir wohi baat kar rahe hain, aap khel le phir (Again, you are saying the same thing…you go and play then).”

Here is the video:

Notably, ahead of the match, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam had spoken about his team’s chances of playing in the World Test Championship (WTC) final. He had said: “We are excited about the prospect of playing the WTC final. This is an important series for that. We have a golden chance to achieve that if we win four of the five Tests to come [three against England followed by two against New Zealand]. We got around a week to prepare for the series, so that was great and has given us some edge and momentum. The best thing was that first-class matches were on, so some of the players were already playing red-ball cricket.”
