In the second game of the three-match series, New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 79 runs. In their victory, Devon Conway and skipper Kane Williamson shined with the bat for the Black Caps.

After winning the toss, New Zealand chose to bat first and scored a fighting total of 261, losing all their wickets in 49.5 overs. Conway 101 (92) and Williamson 85 (100) were the main contributors for the visitors.

For Pakistan, Mohammed Nawaz bowled really well and scalped 4 wickets, giving away just 38 runs in his quota of 10 overs. Fast bowler Naseem Shah also picked up 3 wickets.

In reply, the home team failed to chase the set target and got all out for 182 in 43 overs. The only batsman to have scored a fifty for the Men in Green was captain Babar Azam who scored 79 runs off 114 deliveries.

Talking about New Zealand’s bowling, pacer Tim Southee and spinner Ish Sodhi took 2 wickets each to restrict the hosts and level the series 1-1.

While fielding, New Zealand also stuck two run-outs, of which one became a major talking point on social media.

In the 33rd over of the second innings, Lockie Ferguson hit Babar onto the pads, and the ball went to the backard point. At the other end, Agha Salman ran for a single but was sent back by Babar following a mixup in the middle of the pitch. However, the call by the latter proved to be too late as Glenn Philips rushed towards the ball quickly and initiated a rocket arm throw towards the non-striker’s end to run out Salman with a direct hit.

After pulling off the dismissal, Phillips was seen doing a wild and animated celebration that went viral on social media.
