The comparison between Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli is not new. Both are two of the greatest cricketers of all time. Tendulkar, who represented India from 1989 to 2013, is widely regarded as one of the greatest batters as he holds numerous records, including the most runs and centuries in both Test and ODI cricket.
The Mumbaikar is also the only player to have scored 100 international centuries. On the other hand, Kohli, who has been playing for India since 2008, is viewed as the one who can get close to Tendulkar’s unreal numbers. Recently, Kohli smashed two centuries in the ODI series against Sri Lanka and took his ODI tons tally to 46, only three behind Tendulkar’s all-time highest 49 hundreds.
Many fans and experts are of the opinion that in the upcoming ODI World Cup, scheduled to take place in India later this year, Kohli will be able to break Tendulkar’s ODI centuries record. Though the debate about who is better between the two is a matter of personal opinion and can be subjective, the comparisons will forever continue as its part of this game.
Regarding the red-hot topic, Australian Test captain Pat Cummins was also quizzed to choose between Sachin or Kohli. Speaking on YouTube during a teaser episode for Prime Video’s The Test, Aussie opener Usman Khawaja asked Cummins, “Sachin or Virat?”
Reacting to the question, Cummins quipped, “Of what? Cooking?” before picking Kohli over Tendulkar. The 29-year-old said he played with Tendulkar only once, so he will go with Kohli. Cummins said: “I think I have played Sachin only once in a T20 years ago. So I will say, Virat.”
Notably, Cummins will soon be travelling to India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023. The four-match Test series is all set to begin on February 09 in Nagpur.
