Ruturaj Gaikwad celebrates after grabbing a stunning catch

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 29th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday (April 21). CSK emerged victorious in the game by seven wickets.

Asked to bat first, SRH got off to a slow start and managed to score just 134 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Abhishek Sharma was the top scorer for the Hyderabad-based team with 34 runs. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of the bowlers for CSK, as he bagged three wickets and gave away 22 runs in his quota of four overs.

However, Ruturaj Gaikwad also played a significant role in restricting SRH by putting up a brilliant fielding effort and taking two brilliant catches for his team. One of the two catches that Ruturaj grabbed came in the form of Heinrich Klaasen.

On the third ball of the 18th over, Klaasen tried to drive away the outside-off delivery from Matheesha Pathirana for a boundary. Although the right-handed batter’s shot sounded crisp, he failed to get it past Ruturaj, who dived forward and pulled off a brilliant catch to send Klaasen back to the pavilion. After the catch, Ruturaj was seen celebrating the dismissal by raising his arms in joy.

Devon Conway was the star performer with the bat for the Chennai-based team as he splayed an unbeaten knock of 77 runs comprising twelve fours and one six. Ruturaj also chipped in with valuable 35 runs for his side in the run chase.

On the other hand, Mayank Markande turned out to be the most successful bowler for SRH, taking two wickets for 23 runs. CSK’s Ravindra Jadeja was awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ for his excellent bowling performance.
