Delhi Capitals (DC) and Gujarat Titans (GT) faced each other in the recently-concluded 7th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) at Arun Jaitley Stadium.
The Hardik Pandya-led side got the better of Delhi as they chased down the target of 163 in 18.1 overs and won the contest with six wickets in hand. However, the Titans didn’t have a good start, having lost both openers – Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill – for cheap scores, courtesy of DC pacer Anrich Nortje’s fiery spell.
Nortje’s scorching performance with the ball was one of the major talking points in the match, as his scrambled seam ball proved too much for the GT openers. Nortje drew the first blood when he cleaned up Saha with a 143.5 kph delivery. Though, his dismissal of Gill grabbed the maximum eyeballs.
It all happened during the 5th over of GT chase when Nortje came up with a sizzling scrambled seam delivery that nipped back in off the deck from a length and shattered the defence of Gill to clean him up. Gill, who had been playing well, was unable to cope with the pace and movement of Nortje’s ball, clocked at 148.8kph, resulting in his dismissal.

Notably, it was the second successive victory for the Titans in the ongoing 20-over showpiece tournament. After losing three wickets for 54 in their chase, Sai Sudharsan stood up and bailed his side out of trouble.
The Chennai-born cricketer added 53 runs with Vijay Shankar (29 off 23) and formed an undefeated 56-run stand with David Miller (31 no) to steer the Titans to their second back-to-back triumph. Sudharsan stayed unbeaten on 62 from 48 deliveries, with the help of 4 fours and 2 sixes.
