Chennai Super Kings (CSK) took on Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 55th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. The Chennai-based team registered an easy win in the contest and moved one step closer to securing a place in the playoffs. The wife and daughter of CSK skipper MS Dhoni were also present on the occasion, who cheered for the wicketkeeper-batter throughout the game and also celebrated the team’s victory in the end.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, CSK started their innings with a slow pace but managed to put up a total of 167/8 in their allotted 20 overs courtesy of Shivam Dube’s storming 25 runs off just twelve balls. Dhoni also played a significant role in guiding CSK to a competitive total with his quickfire 20 runs off nine deliveries supported by one-four and two sixes. The 41-year-old cricketer’s excellent cameo was well appreciated by his wife Sakshi and daughter Ziva, who watched the live-action from the stands.

The mother-daughter duo was seen elated as they cheered for Dhoni during his inning.

Here’s the video:

As far as the result of the match is concerned, DC failed miserably in the run chase and suffered a 27 runs loss. Although Rilee Rossouw top-scored for his team with 35 runs off 37 balls, the other batters struggled to build partnerships, and Delhi eventually could manage to put up only 140 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs. Matheesha Pathirana was the standout performer for CSK with the ball, as he took three wickets for 37 runs. However, Ravindra Jadeja bagged the Player of the Match award for his all-round show. Notably, Jadeja scored 21 runs off 16 balls and scalped one wicket for Chennai.

A cute incident also took place following CSK’s win, where Ziva was seen running towards his father and hugging him. Dhoni also welcomed her daughter with open arms and a smile.
