Nehal Wadhera's six leaves a dent on a car

In the 54th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Mumbai Indians (MI) hosted Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday. The match was significant for both teams as they needed to win in order to keep their chances alive of reaching the playoffs. Led by Rohit Sharma, Mumbai defeated RCB by six wickets by successfully gunning down the massive target of 200 runs in only 16.3 overs.

The dominant triumph over Faf du Plessis-led RCB was MI’s sixth in 11 matches played this season and they have now jumped to the No. 3 position in the IPL 2023 points table. The total of 200 was a tricky one to chase, but thanks to Suryakumar Yadav and Nehal Wadhera half-centuries, MI managed to register the memorable victory.

Following Ishan Kishan’s blistering batting which gave Mumbai a decent start, Surya and Wadhera went on to form a game-changing 140-run partnership for the third wicket from just 70 balls, keeping RCB away from bouncing back.

Surya was MI’s highest run-scorer in the match, contributing 83 runs off 35 balls, while Wadhera remained unbeaten on 52 runs off 34 balls. Wadhera, who smashed his maiden IPL fifty in MI’s previous fixture against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), finished the game with a six on the third ball of the 17th over. The big hit also brought up his second back-to-back fifty in this season.

Notably, Wadhera hammered four fours and three sixes, and one of his six left a dent on the car that was placed near the boundary ropes. It all happened on the fourth ball of the 11th over bowled by ace spinner Wanindu Hasaranga. The leggie tossed up the ball and it was a googly. However, Wadhera read it perfectly as he sat down and slog swept the white leather over deep mid which ended up damaging the expensive car.
