Nepal beat UAE to qualify for Asia Cup 2023

In a historic event, Nepal emerged as the winners of the ACC Men’s Premier Cup 2023 after defeating United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 7 wickets in the final match held at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground on Tuesday. WIth the win Nepal qualified for the upcoming edition of Asia Cup 2023.

Put into bat, UAE struggled to find their momentum as they lost wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bowled out for a below-par score of 117 in 33.1 overs. Asif Khan top-scored for UAE with a patient knock of 46 runs off 54 balls, while Lalit Rajbanshi was the pick of the bowlers for Nepal with excellent figures of 4 wickets for just 14 runs in 7.1 overs.

In response, Nepal got off to a shaky start losing two quick wickets, but Gulshan Kumar Jha held his nerve to play a match-winning knock of 67 runs off 84 balls, which included 3 fours and 6 sixes. Bhim Sharki provided the necessary support to Jha with a patient knock of 36 runs off 72 balls. UAE bowlers tried their best to make a comeback into the match, but Nepal reached the target of 118 in 30.3 overs with 7 wickets in hand.

Nepal have booked the last spot in the Group A of Asia Cup alongside giants India and Pakistan.
