Team India showcased their prowess against West Indies in the 4th T20I by registering a dominant 9-wicket win at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill to level the 5-match series 2-2.
Having won the toss, West Indies elected to bat first. Their innings saw a mix of solid performances and quick dismissals, resulting in a total of 178 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Shimron Hetmyer’s explosive knock of 61 runs off 39 balls, including 3 fours and 4 sixes, was the standout performance in the West Indies’ innings.
The Indian bowlers exhibited a commendable effort, with Arshdeep Singh leading the way by taking 3 crucial wickets, well-supported by Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Kuldeep Yadav.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill lead India to a big win
In response, India’s batting proved to be a dominant force. The opening duo of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill put on a spectacular show, orchestrating a partnership that guided India to victory. Jaiswal’s aggressive innings of 84 runs off 51 balls, featuring 11 fours and 3 sixes, set the tone for India’s chase.
Similarly, Gill’s contribution of 77 runs off 47 balls, embellished with 3 fours and 5 sixes, solidified India’s control over the match. Their partnership propelled India to a comfortable total of 179/1 in just 17 overs, sealing a convincing 9-wicket victory.
“It’s not easy, I am happy to go out there and perform. I try to play how team needs. I try to score quickly and how many shots I can play in the powerplay. Reading the wicket, reading the situation, everything is important. The partnership with Gill was really amazing, he batted really well. I want to thank everyone coming here and supporting us,” said Yashasvi after bagging the Player of the Match.
