The 25th match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2023 saw Guyana Amazon Warriors take on Jamaica Tallawahs at Providence Stadium. The Guyana-based team emerged victorious in the contest by seven wickets.

Asked to bat first, the Jamaica Tallawahs posted a competitive total of 152/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Brandon King was the top-scorer for the Tallawahs, smashing 52 runs off 32 balls supported by ten fours and one six. Other notable contributions came from Raymon Reifer (20 runs off 14 balls) and Fabian Allen (21 runs off 14 balls), who provided valuable runs to the team. Fabian’s quickfire 21-run cameo featured two massive sixes of which one went on to shatter the window glass of the stadium, leaving the spectators in awe.

The destructive hit by Fabian came on the sixth ball of the 18th over when Dwaine Pretorious delivered a slower outside-off ball to the Jamaican batter, which the 28-year-old smacked over the long-off with full power. The hit by Fabian travelled a long distance and ultimately went on to shatter a window glass of the stadium.

Coming back to the match, the Guyana Amazon Warriors bowlers put up a commendable effort. Imran Tahir picked up a few crucial wickets for his team and finished with figures of 2/33.

In reply, the Guyana Amazon Warriors displayed a dominant performance with the bat. Saim Ayub was the star of the show, smashing an explosive 85 runs off 53 balls, which included five fours and five sixes. Matthew Nandu also made a valuable contribution and scored 37 runs off 35 balls.
The Jamaica Tallawahs’ bowlers tried their best, but they couldn’t prevent the Amazon Warriors from achieving the set target. Chris Green, Salman Irshad, and Shamar Springer each took a wicket, but it wasn’t enough to halt the Guyana Amazon Warriors’ charge.
In the end, Guyana emerged victorious in a well-contested match and secured a 7-wicket win over the Jamaica Tallawahs. Saim’s explosive innings and a collective bowling effort were the key factors in the Guyana Amazon Warriors’ victory.
