Twitter reactions: Shashank Singh & Ashutosh Sharma’s late flourish in vain as SRH beat PBKS in a thriller | IPL 2024

SRH defeated PBKS in a nail-biting thriller at IPL 2024

In a nail-biting encounter at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, the clash between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) kept fans on the edge of their seats until the very last ball. The contest went down to the wire where the Sunrisers ended up bagging a thrilling win by just 2 runs.

Nitish Reddy propels SRH to a competitive total

Punjab Kings, led by skipper Shikhar Dhawan, won the toss and elected to bowl first, putting Sunrisers Hyderabad to bat. SRH got off to a bad start with Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma getting dismissed early. However, it was Nitish Reddy‘s explosive innings that stole the show, smashing 64 runs off just 37 deliveries.

Abdul Samad’s late flourish added crucial runs to the total, helping Sunrisers Hyderabad reach a competitive score of 182/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers for Punjab Kings, claiming an impressive four-wicket haul.

Shashank Singh, Ashutosh Sharma almost take PBKS over the finish line

In response, Punjab Kings’ chase started on a shaky note, losing early wickets including the dismissal of opener Jonny Bairstow for a duck. However, resilient partnerships from the middle order, notably Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma, kept Punjab Kings in the hunt.

Shashank’s aggressive innings of 46 off 25 balls and Ashutosh’s 33 off 15, brought them close to the target. But their effort went in vain as Punjab Kings fell short of the target by a mere 2 runs, finishing at 180/6 in their 20 overs.
