Fans around the world are eagerly anticipating the T20 World Cup 2024, set to commence next month. Co-hosted by the West Indies and the USA, this multi-team tournament promises thrilling cricketing action. Currently, teams are engaged in warm-up matches to refine their game plans and strategies ahead of the high-stakes competition.

Eoin Morgan’s insightful prediction

As the tournament draws near, cricket analysts have begun sharing their insights and predictions about team strategies and potential winners. Among them, former England captain Eoin Morgan has revealed his favourite team in the 20-team competition.

The strongest side

Morgan has identified Team India as the strongest side in the tournament, despite their struggle with injuries. He expressed his confidence in the Rohit Sharma-led team, highlighting their depth and quality.

“The strongest side, even with injuries throughout the tournament, is India, without a doubt. Their strength and depth is absolutely incredible at the moment. And it’s almost probably, we’re talking about who the players that were missed out in their squad of 15 because of the quality that they possess,” Morgan said as quoted by India Today.

Favourites to win

Morgan further elaborated on why he considers India the favourites to win the tournament. He acknowledged that if India play to their full potential, leveraging the depth and skill evident on paper, they are capable of defeating any opponent decisively throughout the tournament.

“They are favourites for me. I think that they’re just the quality that they have on paper. If they produce it, I think they can, they can beat anybody quite well in the tournament,” he added.

Notably, in the 2022 T20 World Cup, India had an impressive run but faced a crushing defeat by England in the semi-finals. This year, they aim to surpass their previous performance and clinch their second T20 World Cup trophy, having last won the inaugural edition in 2007 under MS Dhoni’s captaincy.
