Rajasthan Royals (RR) are enjoying a remarkable season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Their recent victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) propelled them into the second Qualifier of the lucrative league.
Opting to bowl first in their Eliminator clash against RCB on Wednesday, RR’s decision paid dividends as they successfully restricted RCB to a below-par target of 172 runs. This feat was achieved through impressive spells from Trent Boult (4-0-16-1), Avesh Khan (4-0-44-3), and Ravichandran Ashwin (4-0-19-2).
During the chase, the inaugural season champions chased down the target in 19 overs, with stellar performances from Yashasvi Jaiswal (45 off 30) and Riyan Parag (36 off 26). Following this victory, Sanju Samson came to speak at the post-match presentation and revealed some shocking insights into the health conditions of RR players.
Sanju Samson reveals about a bug infecting RR players
The RR skipper, while talking in the post-match presentation, said that he was unwell and went on to say that many of his teammates have fallen ill due to a bug that is present in the team’s dressing room.
“I’m not 100% fine actually. There is a bug in the dressing room, lots of coughs, and a lot of people are a bit unwell. (Going forward) Rovman finished that off well. I think we have a travel day and rest now, looking forward to the next game,” Sanju said in the presentation, as quoted by Times of India.
Discussing RR’s triumph, the 29-year-old cricketer lauded the team’s young talents, highlighting the impressive performances of these players at their tender age.
“(On Parag and Jaiswal) They are 22 each, as is Jurel. With very little experience, the way they are performing at this level is amazing,” the Kerala-born-cricketer stated.
