In a significant milestone, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) star Abhishek Sharma has etched his name into the annals of the Indian Premier League (IPL) history by surpassing an iconic record previously held by Indian cricketing maestro Virat Kohli.

Abhishek Sharma surpasses Virat Kohli

The 23-year-old prodigy has set a new benchmark for the most number of sixes in a single IPL season by an Indian player, achieving this feat during SRH’s encounter against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Match 69 of IPL 2024 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. This remarkable accomplishment not only highlights Sharma’s explosive batting prowess but also cements his status as one of the most dynamic young talents in the tournament.

Abhishek surpassed Kohli’s record with a towering six off Rishi Dhawan in the sixth over of the second innings, sending the ball over long-on for an 82-metre hit. This maximum marked his 39th six of the season, surpassing Kohli’s 38 sixes set during the 2016 edition.
