A dramatic incident unfolded during the T20 World Cup 2024 warm-up match between India and Bangladesh at the Nassau County Cricket Ground in New York on Saturday. A security breach occurred when a fan bypassed security measures and rushed onto the field to meet the Indian capatain, Rohit Sharma.
Fan’s dash met with a swift response
The overzealous fan managed to reach Rohit before security personnel intervened. Video footage circulating on social media shows the fan giving the Indian skipper a hug. Security personnel and USA police officers quickly apprehended the fan and escorted him off the field.
Rohit, known for his calmness and leadership, played a part in de-escalating the situation. He even requested the security personnel to handle the situation gently.
