Shubman Gill to be Suryakumar Yadav’s deputy in T20Is
Shubman Gill, who recently led a young Indian team to a 4-1 T20I series triumph in Zimbabwe, has been named vice-captain for both T20I and ODI matches. His impressive performance and leadership skills have earned him this important responsibility.
Following the T20I series, India will face Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. This ODI series will see the return of Rohit and Virat Kohli, who will be adding strength to the batting lineup after a brief hiatus.
Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been rested from the tour after a gruelling season, allowing him time to recover and recharge. Meanwhile, all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who served as Rohit’s deputy during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, was initially considered a frontrunner for the captaincy but ultimately did not make the final cut.
