India’s premier domestic cricket tournament, the Ranji Trophy, has undergone a revamp for the 2024-25 season. The new format introduces a promotion and relegation system to enhance competition and provide opportunities for teams to move between divisions.
Promotion and Relegation System
A key aspect of this season is the introduction of the promotion and relegation system:
Promotion: The two finalists from the Plate group will be promoted to the Elite category for the 2025–26 season.
Relegation: The two lowest-performing teams from the Elite groups, based on their points and quotient, will be relegated to the Plate category for the following season.
The 90th edition of the Ranji Trophy will kickstart on October 11 and continue till March 2025.
