In the 11th match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) delivered a commanding performance against UP Warriorz in Bengaluru on Monday. Led by skipper Smriti Mandhana and star Aussie batter Ellyse Perry, RCB’s batting lineup showcased their prowess to set a formidable total.
Ellyse Perry’s brute force on display
Australian cricketer Perry, known for her power-packed shots, stole the show with her aggressive batting during RCB’s innings. Playing their final home game of the season at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Perry enthralled the crowd with her blistering strokes. One particular shot, a massive six, not only cleared the boundary but also shattered a car window in the process, leaving spectators awestruck.
Perry’s six breaks the car window
The incident occurred in the penultimate ball of the 19th over, bowled by Deepti Sharma. Perry, displaying her trademark aggression, stepped down the track and launched the ball over the long-on boundary for an impressive 80-meter six. The sheer force of the shot not only sent the ball soaring into the stands but also resulted in the unexpected destruction of a nearby car window. Even Perry herself was taken aback by the power of her shot, as she stood with her hands on her head in disbelief.

RCB post massive total
Notably, RCB made a tactical decision by promoting S Meghana to the opening slot instead of Sophie Devine. This move proved to be fruitful as Meghana and Mandhana formed a solid opening partnership, laying the foundation for RCB’s innings. Mandhana, supported by Perry, continued the onslaught with a brisk 95-run partnership off just 64 balls, leaving the UP Warriorz bowlers struggling to contain the onslaught.
Mandhana smashed a tremendous knock of 80 runs from 50 deliveries, including 10 fours and three humungous sixes. Similarly, Perry slammed 58 off 37 balls with the help of 4 fours and as many maximums.
